Question 1

What ROAS should I expect from e-commerce PPC campaigns?

Accepted Answer

Target ROAS varies by margin: 30% margin needs 3.3x ROAS to break even, 50% margin needs 2x. Successful e-commerce campaigns typically achieve 4-8x ROAS. New campaigns may start at 2-3x while optimizing. Account for customer lifetime value—initial ROAS can be lower if repeat purchases are common.

Question 2

Should I use Google Shopping or Search Ads for my online store?

Accepted Answer

Both, for different purposes. Shopping campaigns show product images and prices, generating higher purchase intent—typically 85% of e-commerce ad spend. Search ads capture research-phase customers and target competitor terms. Start with Shopping, then add Search for brand protection and competitor targeting.

Question 3

How do I optimize my Google Shopping feed for better performance?

Accepted Answer

Use descriptive, keyword-rich product titles (brand + product + attributes). Include high-quality images on white backgrounds. Ensure accurate pricing, availability, and GTIN/MPN data. Add relevant product categories and custom labels for campaign segmentation. Update feed daily for inventory accuracy.

Question 4

What's the difference between Standard and Performance Max campaigns?

Accepted Answer

Standard Shopping gives you more control over bids, products, and search terms. Performance Max uses AI to optimize across all Google properties (Search, Shopping, Display, YouTube, Gmail) but offers less transparency. Start with Standard to understand what works, then test Performance Max with proven products.

Question 5

How much should I spend on e-commerce PPC to see results?

Accepted Answer

Minimum $1,000-2,000/month to gather meaningful data, though $5,000+ enables faster optimization. Budget based on margins and goals: (Target Revenue × (1/ROAS Goal) = Ad Budget). Start conservatively, then scale winners. Expect 2-4 weeks of learning phase before optimizing.

Question 6

How do I reduce wasted ad spend on my e-commerce campaigns?

Accepted Answer

Add negative keywords for non-purchase intent (reviews, complaints, free). Exclude low-margin or out-of-stock products. Use audience exclusions for past converters (unless upselling). Implement bid adjustments by device, location, and time. Review search term reports weekly to catch irrelevant queries.

Question 7

Should I run Facebook/Meta Ads alongside Google Ads?

Accepted Answer

Yes, they serve different funnel stages. Google captures active searchers (bottom funnel). Meta excels at awareness, retargeting, and reaching people who don't know they need your product. Allocate 60-70% to Google for direct response, 30-40% to Meta for discovery and retargeting.

Question 8

How do I set up effective retargeting for my online store?

Accepted Answer

Segment audiences by behavior: viewed product (show that product), added to cart (urgency messaging + discount), past customers (cross-sell/upsell). Set frequency caps to avoid ad fatigue. Use dynamic product ads showing exact items viewed. Cart abandoners typically have 10-15x higher conversion rates.

Question 9

What's the best bidding strategy for e-commerce campaigns?

Accepted Answer

Start with Manual CPC or Maximize Clicks to gather conversion data. Once you have 30+ conversions/month, switch to Target ROAS or Maximize Conversion Value. Target ROAS works best with sufficient data—set targets 20% below current performance initially, then optimize upward.

Question 10

How do I handle seasonal fluctuations in e-commerce PPC?

Accepted Answer

Increase budgets 2-4 weeks before peak seasons (Black Friday, holidays). Create seasonal campaigns with specific messaging. Adjust ROAS targets—accept lower returns during high-competition periods for volume. Prepare remarketing lists before peaks. Don't pause completely in slow seasons—maintain brand presence.

Question 11

What landing page elements improve e-commerce PPC conversion?

Accepted Answer

Fast load speed (<3 seconds), clear product images, prominent pricing, trust badges, reviews, clear CTA buttons, mobile optimization, and easy navigation. Send traffic to specific product pages, not homepage. Include urgency elements (stock levels, shipping deadlines) when authentic.

Question 12

How do I track true ROI from e-commerce PPC campaigns?

Accepted Answer

Implement enhanced e-commerce tracking in Google Analytics. Use attribution modeling beyond last-click (data-driven or position-based). Track customer lifetime value, not just first purchase. Connect ad platforms to your e-commerce platform for accurate revenue data. Account for returns in ROI calculations.
